In honor of Women’s History Month I have focused on outstanding female authors and/or illustrators. I admit this last one is a repost, but I couldn’t help myself – I LOVE this book! But to keep it ‘fresh’ I’ve also included images from a few of the numerous books Adams illustrated.
Author/Illustrator: Adrienne Adams
Publisher: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1976
Opening: There are Abbotts and there are Abbotts. These Abbotts are rabbits. The rabbit Abbots make the designs on Easter eggs.
Summary: Orson Rabbit’s parents, who paint Easter eggs, follow Orson on his amazing journey in search of his own artistic style.
Themes: Easter, artists, family, vacation
like this book because: of the wonderful, warm, and intricate paintings by Adams, but also because of the wonderful Montessori-style lesson in following the child.
