Boo hoo! This is NOT an acceptable entry for Susanna Hill’s Halloweensie Contest (over by 4 words), but I thought I’d post my adaptation of a Storytime action-rhyme for teachers, parents, librarians – or another bookseller! – who might enjoy boo-hooing with toddlers too!

Awww…cute interactive poem for young punkins! You could easily make this eligible for the contest by deleting “as” at the beginning of each second and fourth lines. Cuts your count by 10.

Love it! What a fun way to start the classroom Halloween festivities, or calm the young ones down after the parade & sugary treats. I agree with Carol – a few cuts & you’d make the 100 word cut off.

I definitely see this as a fun song and dance piece for children. I can picture the hand gestures and simple body movements. Great job!!!

I love it. I may tuck it in my pocket for our first grade party tomorrow in case they get rowdy! (When they get rowdy is more likely!!) Please, cut the last stanza so you can enter! Or just go with 2 repetition on words – even though the syllables are off then, every time i read it I add a pause anyway for the action so the meter reads fine that way too.

That sounds fun too – thanks, Lauri!

What a fun Halloween read-a-loud. I can just see those kids rising, crawling, boo-hooing and laughing, such fun! I think you could drop the first stanza and still have a great piece to enter.

A fun entry Julie. Loved it and it could be a winner if you just take out the “as” in every second line. Whoooaa!

This is so delightful and fun, Julie! What fun kids would have with this! And so beautifully presented on the orange background with the dropping spider – so artfully done! I counted the words myself – 104, you are right 😦 But WONDERFUL job! Thanks for joining in!
