Looks like a dozen eggs we purchased recently. I love the natural colors. Of course, our dozen did not have the little guy in it.

We get these colors from our friend Tom, or rather his hens!

haha! And it looks like our egg box after we find all the eggs that our hens lay! Every day is an egg hunt day here! We seldom have any little peeps popping out though!! Nice picture!

Which kind of hens lay the pale green ones?

They’re called Americaunas. They lay pretty eggs, but the hens are very unruly and do not like to lay their eggs in nest boxes.

A story there? Do there eggs have a pale blue sheen inside too?

hmmm. I believe they do! Shells are not something I pay attention to. But here is a link to an egg lesson for you.

Cute! We’re thinking of getting chickens! My little sister wants to raise them. I think my parents are going to let her.

Lucky you! We would, but we don’t have fencing all the way round, plus they would not be able to roam as much as I’d like because they eat EVERYTHING, and I could not allow that! So I get them from a friend who has tons of space, or from neighbors who keep them. We just recently passed a law that lets you keep up to six within city limits. No home butchering though. My neighbor takes hers to the raptor center when it’s their ‘time’, where they are humanely killed, then given to injured raptors. Sorry if that was too much, but it’s all part of the cycle.
