I used to draw anime but I haven’t tried my luck at drawing lately. It’s been years and years. And the stories I’ve written were unfinished tales I created when I was in middle school.

My teens are totally into anime, and there are some Miyazaki films I really enjoy. Are you just a picture book junkie too?

I love Miyazaki. Probably Japan’s version of Walt Disney himself. Picture book junkie? Love the sound of that, Julie! Yes, I am. Picture books are food for the soul. 🙂 I saw that you’re a graphic designer. That would be really exciting to incorporate it with creating picture books, don’t you think?

Just for kicks: what’s your fav Miyazaki film? Mine has to be Spirited Away.

Spirited Away is such a charming tale. The one that captured my heart, however, was Howl’s Moving Castle. And one of my favorite Miyazaki characters is Totoro. 🙂

It is a tough choice. I missed Arriety in the theaters, and can’t wait for the dvd.

This book has a great message! I remember the first time my mom told me it is OK for me to be mad at her (and Dad). I never thought it was an OK feeling. Kids need to know it is OK.
