  7. The open space was what Patricia Polacco was told to focus on as an artist, by Miss Chew. One similar drawing in her book. It also explained her dyslexia — Patricia saw too much open space around her letters and she had to work with someone when it came to reading. Interesting concept.

    • Yes, I got the book out thanks to your prompting and enjoyed it very much. If only there were more emphasis on the arts in schools we might be able to help more children learn how to cope – before much damage is done to self-esteem. I am a follower of Sir Ken Robinson on the subject of creativity in education. He has done too TED talks I am aware of, you might enjoy hearing what he has to say too.
